Spring Bra-making

With the weather starting to get warmer, I’ve been feeling more like sewing than knitting. I have a decent stash of bra-making materials that I stocked up on after taking the Marlborough Bra class with Norma from Orange Lingerie at Pintuck & Purl in Hampton, NH. I’m slowly making my way through them and also planning out some more ambitious constructions I’d like to try.

One of the sets I’m most proud of to-date is this delicate daisy tulle set. I used the Marlborough Bra pattern that I modified in the class and a self-drafted thong pattern. I was really happy that both fit very well on my first try and came out basically how I imagined.

The other bra that I’m excited about is this white cotton eyelet Black Beauty Bra. This one does not fit perfectly, but considering it is a woven fabric with no stretch, I did pretty well getting it very close on the first try. I think adding a tiny bit more to the bottom cup and spreading the power bar out so it doesn’t dig in will solve the fit issues.

I also made 2 more Marlborough Bras using my pattern pieces from the class for two really well-fitting, everyday bras.
