I have definitely had the death of personal style on the brain lately! Showed up to a bar recently where all these college kids were hanging out and it felt like every last girl was wearing all white or all black in these little bandana tops and flare-leg pants – very copy-paste. But I think knitting is the perfect way to combat this, especially if we dare to knit up the wild ideas we imagine for knitwear.
exactly! i think there was a sweet spot where platforms like tumblr or blogging let people see things they wouldn’t normally find, but now with instagram and other over-alogorithmic platforms, everyone seems the same watered down content. im trying to find my own balance of using pinterest and other platforms to find inspiration, but not find myself just wanting (and ultimately making) the same things as everything else.
i love looking through old fashion magazines and books. or even old photo essays on street style, pre-social media. a lot more working with what you could find, as opposed to going out and getting exactly the same thing as everyone else!
